View from my hotel room

January 24, 2010

There’s nothing I love better than a vacation, but since my life officially restarts tomorrow with the first day of classes (final semester!), I won’t be doing much traveling anytime soon.

To make up for it, I’m putting up my Julian Opie video installation, entitled View from my hotel room, which is a computer generated video of the changing landscape outside a hotel room window. I’m imagining this as Iceland, with me looking out from a hot spring. Nice…

Julian Opie is a lauded contemporary English artist, best known for his stylistic work involving the reduction of photographs into figurative images. This is a piece entitled Kiera Walking that he showed at the Tate in London. Pretty great, right?
